Mekhi Phifer, the actor probably best known for his role on ER as Dr. Gregory Pratt, has signed on to play Rex Matheson in the fourth season of sci-fi series Torchwood. Phifer, who also played opposite Eminem in 8 Mile, was previously a regular on the series Lie to Me.

I don’t have a discriminatory policy of who I’m friends with, so yes, I’m friends with women who are gay — gay, straight, it doesn’t matter to me. So I don’t get upset when I hear that, because it is what it is. I guess I could lie about it to seem more exciting.
